According to a report by News Diggers this morning, we can confirm that Noel Nkhoma has been appointed as the new Chairperson of the Development Bank of Zambia (DBZ). He received his official appointment from the Ministry of Finance who stated he was ‘confident Mr Nkhoma would execute his duties with due diligence’. This becomes Nkhoma’s third official appointment within the new dawn government in the last four months, following an appointment to the Energy Regulation Board (ERB) and Public Private Partnership (PPP) Board.
Mr Nkhoma attended Munali Secondary School and holds an MBA degree in International Management and Economics from the Royal Holloway (University of London), United Kingdom. He holds a post-graduate diploma in Business Administration from the West London College (UK) and in 2015, he was conferred as a Fellow of the Association of Business Executives, United Kingdom. He is the founder of the Betternow Finance Company, a microfinance company which aims to create a positive impact for local communities and has been running for 7 years.
Previously Mr Nkhoma held positions previously at Finance Bank Zambia (now Atlas Mara) as director of Marketing and Public Relations, Director of Operations and Executive Director – Corporate and Institutional Banking. Nkhoma has also served as President of the Economics Association of Zambia, Non-Executive Director of ZESCO Limited, Zambia Daily Mail and the National Sports Council of Zambia. He was also the first Chairman of the Financial Sector Development Plan (FSDP) and last year was voted as the President of the Lusaka Golf Club.
